Cabo San Lucas is a crowded, noisy, year-round spring break version of Mexico, every bit as crowded as Playa del Carmen and Cancun.
Even worse in the first two weeks of October when Sammy Hagar’s birthday and the fishing tournament bring a flood of old white dudes and the attendant hustlers.
San Jose del Cabo is more like traditional Mexico but it lacks the infrastructure to handle the current amount of tourists. It, too, is being overrun with people seeking a cheap party scene that no longer exists.
Both CSL and SJdC restaurant and hotel prices are nearing US and Canadian prices.
And neither place has a beach that compares to Tulum

I would tell you where in Mexico it is safe, fun, and affordable, but then those places would lose their charm, too

Cabo has become Los Angeles South with all the people building large homes there from Souther California.

Mexico has many beautiful towns to visit. We stay away from resorts, they are for the most part overpriced, crowded, and often open up their service to the locals ON WEEKENDS, causing overcrowded pools, buffets etc. We prefer the smaller villages like CHUBURNA, Chelem, PROGRESO, ALL ON THE GULF OF MEXICO
