Is your budget getting tight but traveling is the last thing you would want to give up? Don’t worry, we have all been there. But lucky for you, we have a solution. In fact, we’ve got a few.

We did a bit of research and compiled a list of the 6 cheapest beach destinations in Europe for summer 2024 where you can vacation like a king. Here they are.

Alanya, Turkey

Alanya, Old Town Beach

Thousands of holidaymakers flock to Turkey every year. However, it has a very long coastline, so when it comes to choosing the right destination for you, it can be quite tricky. For us, Alanya is number one, and here are a couple of reasons why.

First and foremost, it has stunning golden sand beaches and its waters are crystal-clear, always inviting you for a refreshing dip or a little snorkeling trip. You can also take a boat ride and explore the seaside. If you’re lucky, you might even spot dolphins.

On the other hand, at night, Alanya turns into a buzzing coastal town with plenty of authentic restaurants, bars, clubs, and movie venues to make memories at.

As you can see, Alanya is suitable for people of all ages and interests. Vacation there is also an excellent value for money. Every traveler can enjoy it without compromising on quality and experiences.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $40 and $95
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $8
  • A beer in a bar: $4

Sunny Beach, Bulgaria

Sunny Beach, Bulgaria

If you’re not keen on the Mediterranean, Sunny Beach is a fantastic option. As the name suggests, it’s renowned for its stunning coastline, vibrant nightlife, and a range of family-friendly attractions, which makes it one of the most popular (and budget-friendly) destinations in Europe.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $50 and $95
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $8
  • A beer in a bar: $2 (and it won’t be just a little bottle, but a full pint)

As with any holiday resort town, it also offers plenty of water sports and other fun activities. You can engage in jet skiing, parasailing, banana riding, windsurfing, and paddleboarding. Do you like being active but prefer to stay on the ground? How about getting your hands on beach volleyball, beach soccer, or mini golf?

Albanian Riviera

Ksamil, Albania

Often referred to as the European Bali, the Albanian Riviera has been getting much attention in the past few years. Not only does it boast stunning beaches and clear, turquoise waters, but the coastline is also lined with excellent resorts, seafood restaurants, as well as cultural attractions. You can also take a day trip to Corfu, which is only a half-an-hour ferry ride from the town of Saranda.

All that for a fraction of the price compared to the popular Mediterranean destinations.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $40 and $90
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $10
  • A beer in a bar: $3

What’s more, its beaches are not yet jammed with tourists. So hurry up and book your trip before others get to know about this Mediterranean hidden gem, the Albanian Riviera.

Algarve, Portugal

Algarve Beach

Compared to its neighbor, a vacation in the Algarve might be more affordable, even in peak season.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $60 and $100 but it depends quite a lot on the exact location here
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $14
  • A beer in a bar: $3

And it definitely has loads to offer. It boasts incredible beaches and about 300 days of sunshine, which makes it one of the sunniest places in Europe. It’s also home to unspoiled nature and cute fishing villages full of unique charm and history.

The coastline is pretty long, so what are the spots you definitely shouldn’t miss? Visit Praia da Falésia for its breathtaking cliffs, explore the cave of Benagil, watch birds at Ria Formosa, or try some exquisite wines in local vineyards. The options are endless.

Algarve is also popular for surfing. No matter your skills, there are plenty of locations to choose from for all levels.

Budva, Montenegro

Budva Old Town
Sveti Stefan Island (15 mins by car from Budva)

Budva is another option for those who wish to spend their vacation in Europe without breaking the bank. That travelers go there for its beaches and nightlife is nothing new. But there is much, much more to do.

Soak in the Medieval atmosphere of Budva’s Old Town, take a stroll on the lovely seaside promenade, or set off for a hiking or biking trip. A must place to visit, which is right next door is Sveti Stefan Island and spend a day on the beach there.

Oh, and did you know that Budva is nicknamed the Miami of Montenegro? Come and see why, this is how much you’ll need.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $50 and $100
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $12
  • A beer in a bar: $3

Crete, Greece

Elafonissi Beach, Crete, Greece

Greece consists of dozens of idyllic islands perfect for summer escapes to the beach. And for being the largest, Crete is one of the most sought-after destinations there. Apart from being on the cheaper side, there are several reasons why you might want to head there this year.

First and foremost, it’s the fascinating remnants of the ancient civilizations. The archaeological ruins, such as the Palace of Knossos or Gortyna, are worth a stop, even if you’re not a history buff.

There is also stunning natural scenery, ideal for hikes, and many traditional mountain villages where you can experience the easy-going Cretan way of living.

Last but not least, the coastline is beautiful and will cater to anyone – you will find busy beaches and cozy coves there. And the accommodation? There are hundreds of hotels and resorts to choose from.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $60 and $120
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $17
  • A beer in a bar: $5

With its breathtaking deserted landscapes, rich marine life, and an array of outdoor adventures, Baja California is one of the most popular destinations in Mexico.

If you’re planning a vacation there but want to stay somewhere without the excessive crowds, you’re at the right spot. In this article, you will find the 7 best hidden gems in Baja California to visit in 2024, so you can spend your time off the way you deserve.

Loreto

Loreto is a charming little town on the east coast of Baja that offers natural beauty, outdoor adventures, and relaxation. Lucky for you, it’s still off the radar of most tourists. That makes it the perfect choice for those who wish to find tranquility and yet like to enjoy a bit more than just basking in the sun.

Some of the most popular activities in Loreto include snorkeling, diving, kayaking, sport fishing, hiking, sightseeing, and off-roading. It’s also a paradise for foodies. There is a bustling street food scene and a lot of restaurants provide farm-to-table dining. Meaning they cook from locally-produced ingredients for an authentic culinary experience.

Mision San Francisco Javier

Set amidst the rugged mountains of the Sierra de la Giganta, Mision San Francisco Javier is a bucolic church that dates back to the 18th century. It’s one of the most-preserved missions on the peninsula, which makes it a compelling destination for those interested in the rich heritage of Baja California Sur.

If you have a rented car, you can easily get there within an hour from the city of Loreto. A guided tour is also an option. No climbing is needed. However, there are plenty of hiking trails, nature walks, and picnic spots around the mission for you to enjoy.

Cañon Agua Matias

Baja California also offers excellent hiking opportunities. If you want to avoid the famous trails such as Cerro el Coronel, La Banquita, or Punta Brava, head to Cañon Agua Matias

It’s located in the north of Baja near La Ponderosa. It’s about 13 kilometers long and the terrain is rather difficult with a lot of climbing. However, you will be rewarded with unique landscapes that you’re likely to have pretty much only to yourself.

The Great Murals of Baja California

If you want to see the greatest rock art in the world, this is the best chance. The Great Murals are the oldest cave paintings in the Americas and draw visitors from the whole world.

They display various motifs, such as animals, abstract symbols, or human figures. They are scattered around the peninsula but some of the best-known ones can be found at Sierra de San Francisco and Sierra de Guadalupe.

Accessing them is rather difficult, so we recommend you take a guided tour. Not only are you not gonna get lost but you can also learn much more about their cultural and historical significance.

Cabo Pulmo National Park

Cabo Pulmo National Park is a marine protected area known for extraordinary biodiversity and pristine coral reefs. They provide top-star snorkeling and diving opportunities for all levels and the sites can be accessed both from the shores or by boat.

Beyond snorkeling and diving, Cabo Pulmo boasts a plethora of other outdoor activities. You can explore the bays and their wildlife on a paddleboard or a kayak, or you can take a boat tour and visit the sea caves of the area. If you prefer to stay on the ground, you can also engage in mountain biking, birdwatching, and horseback riding.

Valle de Guadalupe

Nestled in the northern Baja peninsula close to Ensenada, Valle de Guadalupe is Mexico’s wine country. Yes, Mexico is indeed home to some fantastic wineries as well, and 90% of the country’s wine production comes from here.

Like any other wine region, Valle de Guadalupe is a first-class spot for recreation. Apart from wine tasting and foodie tours, you can enjoy staying at romantic boutique resorts, scenic hiking, biking, or learning about winemaking at Museo de la Vid y el Vino.

Balandra Beach

Is LA PAZ Mexico Safe To Visit Right Now? Travel Advisory 2024

If you’re searching for the best, undiscovered beaches, this one’s for you. Balandra Beach is set near La Paz and features a shallow lagoon. Therefore, it’s ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and families with kids who can safely play in the water.

The beach is surrounded by unique rock formations and you can access them on a paddleboard or a kayak. The shore is also a fantastic spot for short hikes. You can get to several viewpoints, watch local wildlife, or simply soak in the atmosphere of serene nature.

Are you also impatiently looking out for the summer season and endless days at the beach? It’s still nowhere to be seen. But a great way to make the waiting time feel shorter is to take an escape somewhere warm.

With beautiful weather all year round, the Caribbean is a great destination. However, there is one thing to consider. The infamous sargassum season is approaching, and popular hotspots like Cancun, Jamaica, or the Dominican Republic might not be the best choice.

The following islands usually have very little to no seaweed, so you can spend your holiday in paradise carefree and exactly how you dreamed.

Bonaire

Set in the shadows of Curacao, Bonaire is one of the hidden gems of the Caribbean. It boasts pristine beaches, stunning natural landscapes, and a laid-back atmosphere. Also, it’s home to spectacular coral reefs, plenty of which can be accessed straight from the shore.

Even though it’s considered one of the best snorkeling and diving locations in the world, it stays pretty much crowd-free. Therefore, it’s the perfect getaway for travelers who purposefully search for a quieter location.

Life is very slow even in its capital – Kralendijk. Stroll through its colorful streets, savor local dishes, or buy souvenirs. This charming little town is worth a stop, but a day is enough to explore it.

Bonaire occasionally does get seaweed. But it’s never as severe as in the other Caribbean islands and usually occurs only on the east coast.

Antigua & Barbuda

Have you heard of Antigua & Barbuda? The twin-island nation shouldn’t be left off anyone’s bucket list, and we will tell you why.

First things first. It offers excellent weather conditions, stunning beaches, and turquoise waters, which on their own create a phenomenal retreat. Also, it’s home to an array of luxurious resorts and boutique hotels for you to truly unwind and recharge batteries.

There’s no shortage of things to see and do either. One of the most popular activities in Antigua & Barbuda is sailing. It features steady trade winds and you will find plenty of protected harbors along the shoreline that drag sailing enthusiasts from around the globe.

For history buffs, there are plenty of sites to explore, such as the UNESCO World Heritage Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbor, or Betty’s Hope Sugar Plantation.

What’s more, many beaches of Antigua & Barbuda often have no sargassum, especially in early spring. So a great holiday is guaranteed if you come in April.

Grenada

Grenada To Drop ALL Entry Restrictions for International Travelers On April 4

Often referred to as the “Spice Isle”, Grenada is a picturesque little island covered in fragrant spice plantations, mystic rainforests, and stunning white sand beaches. Thanks to that, visitors can enjoy plenty of activities.

Reconnect with nature while hiking and birdwatching in Grand Etang National Park, Annandale Falls, or the Seven Sisters Waterfalls. If you’re interested in the island’s colonial past, don’t miss Fort George, Fort Frederick, and the Grenada National Museum.

Or simply sunbathe, sip on delicious cocktails, and relax at the beach. If you come in April, the shores should be seaweed-free, and its waters are therefore perfectly clear for diving and snorkeling.

Grenada has also been turning itself into a chocolate destination in recent years. Take a tour of one of its cocoa estates and learn about chocolate production at a chocolate factory. Or simply savor the final product at a local boutique shop.

Aruba

Do you prefer an active holiday over lazing around? With so many activities to offer, Aruba is a fantastic island to visit.

Steady trade winds make perfect conditions for various watersports, such as windsurfing, sailing, or kitesurfing. On the other hand, on the sheltered southwestern coastline, there are excellent diving opportunities.

You can also hop on an outdoor adventure. How about hiking in Arikok National Park, horseback riding, or canoeing?

Another thing that makes Aruba stand out is its nightlife scene. The best events can be found in Oranjestad – Aruba’s lively capital. No matter whether you like wild parties, live music, casinos, or cozy pubs, this island has something for everyone.

On top of that, Aruba rarely gets seaweed. And if it does, it usually isn’t bad so you can enjoy its beaches and all the fun that goes with it without a problem. Oh, and don’t forget to visit the flamboyant flamingos at Flamingo Beach.

Traveling to the correct location is one way to increase your chances of spotting the northern lights.

The increased popularity of Northern Lights tourism, fueled by predictions that the astronomical phenomenon will be exceptionally visible in 2024, makes this year’s hotspots look even better.

A study conducted on behalf of Expedia found that in 2024, almost half of Americans (42%) would put aurora chasing above other experiences on their bucket lists.

Therefore, the top 10 popular Northern Lights destinations have been disclosed by the travel booking website Expedia as part of its Northern Lights Guide.

Lapland, Finland, is the top destination projected to be most popular with travelers seeking the lights, as it has seen an astounding 370 percent growth.

lapland northern lights

With a 215 percent growth from 2022 to 2023, the entire Scandinavian nation was a top choice for Americans, particularly for the well-known aurora-hunting destinations of Rovaniemi and Inari.

October is the best month for those trying to save money. In addition to the fact that it’s the start of the busiest time of year, which runs from late September to late March, the average nightly rate at Lapland hotels is $216.

Churchill, Canada, ranked second with a 110 percent increase in searches. With an 80% growth, Banff secured the fifth position, while Jasper secured the seventh spot with a 70% growth.

Two Norwegian cities, Alta with 100% growth and Narvik with 90% growth, tied for third and fourth place. The best months to go because of the aurora season, which here lasts from fall through spring, are typically March, April, September, and October, according to Expedia.

With a growth rate of 80%, Kalfafell, Iceland, tied Banff for fifth place, and Isle of Skye, United Kingdom, came in eighth with a growth rate of 75%.

Two Swedish cities, Kiruna with a growth rate of 55 percent and Abisko with a growth rate of 65 percent, completed the list.

Although no U.S. location made the top 10, there was increased interest in some cities. Searches for Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota, close to the Canadian border, which has the best lights in the fall and winter, and Michigan, where the peak months are April, October, and November, increased by 20%. Of course, Alaska, the well-known state known for seeing the northern lights, had a 15% increase during its extended season, which runs from late August to mid-April.

Because they are frequently less expensive and less crowded with tourists than their more well-known counterparts, emerging destinations are either gaining traction on social media or receiving fresh attention.

Here is a list of the top seven emerging travel spots for this year, along with a few reasons for a visit.

South Korea

8 Reasons Why You Should Visit South Korea This Summer

Through its Temple Stay program, which gives you an immersive look into how Korean Buddhist monks live, work, and pray.

Quebec, Canada

If you’re hesitant to travel to Europe, consider visiting Quebec City or Montreal, which both have amazing European-style historic districts.

The island now boasts three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Ilulissat Icefjord; Kujataa, an area noted for the confluence of Viking settlements and Indigenous history; and Aasivissuit-Nipisat, the largest ice-free area in Greenland, which has been utilized for hunting for more than 4,000 years.

Dominica

Spring is on its way, and now is the time to start the planning process if you are hoping to get away from campus for some fun in the sun.

Here are ten destinations that are expected to top this year’s spring break travel lists!

Orlando

Florida may be among the most classic spring break destinations, and experiencing at least one spring break trip to Disney World, Universal Studios, Epcot, or another exciting destination is on the bucket list of everyone from families with elementary schoolers to college students. Orlando may be the perfect choice if you are less interested in a beach destination but still looking for someplace warm to explore.

Tulum and Los Cabos

Survey Reveals The Biggest Problem Los Cabos Faces Right Now

Mexico is another popular spring break destination for those who are looking for a trip that is relatively easy to plan, and Los Cabos and Tulum top the list of Mexican cities that are likely to be among the top spring break choices this year. Tulum’s Caribbean coastline and all-inclusive resorts and the spas and local cuisine of Los Cabos make both cities optimal choices for travelers who are hoping to spend plenty of time relaxing.

Maui

The Hawaiian Islands are among the United States’ most tropical destinations, and visiting Maui may be an excellent choice for service-minded students who enjoy spending spring break working on projects that benefit locals this year. Maui visitors can connect with several local organizations that are continuing the cleanup and rebuilding process following last summer’s wildfires.

Puerto Rico

7 Reasons Why You Should Visit Puerto Rico This Summer

As a US territory, Puerto Rico provides a passport-free travel experience that can be perfect for US citizens who may not have time to apply for or renew theirs before spring break (current processing estimates are up to eight weeks plus mailing time). Puerto Rico’s rainforests, abundance of water sports options, and resorts make it a top choice for a variety of nature lovers.

Punta Cana

While many spring break destinations tend to focus primarily on the preferences of college students or other specific demographic groups, Punta Cana is packed with a wider selection of activities for the entire extended family.

Jamaica

Jamaica Is Expecting The Busiest Summer Travel Season Ever

Visitors to Jamaica can enjoy a wide range of local music and culture that can add a unique touch to any spring break trip.

Japan

Japan’s fluffy pink cherry blossoms make it an excellent spring travel destination for visitors who enjoy taking advantage of its unique beauty. It is also considered to be a relatively affordable spring break destination.

Tahiti

You Can Now Fly Direct To Tahiti From These 4 U.S. Cities

Tahiti may be a challenge for Americans to get to in the span of a typical spring break, but a little extra planning can go a long way when it comes to enjoying these tropical islands. Many of the area’s resorts also offer discounts for tourists who visit multiple islands during the same trip. This Airline offers flights to Tahiti from 4 different U.S. cities.

Europe

Many European cities may be less tropical than other top spring break destinations, but they can still be an excellent choice for travelers who are interested in something a bit more culturally enriching than another year of beaches. London, Paris, parts of Norway, and a wide range of other European regions of every size are quickly becoming more common places to visit during mild spring days.

No matter what your favorite warm-weather activities look like, chances are one of these destinations is the perfect choice for planning a spring break trip you will never forget!

Travelers from all over the world are drawn to the Dominican Republic by its tropical weather, white sand beaches, varied landscapes of mountains, and colonial past.

The most visited islands in the Dominican Republic are these five breathtaking ones:

Saona Island

With palm tree-lined beaches and surreal blue waters, Saona is as exotic and stunning as a tropical beach getaway gets.

Travelers advise taking a tour because it will provide you with the best overall experience and the most logistical convenience. And a lot of them cost less than $100, meals included.

Whether you choose to use a speedboat or a catamaran, most trips take two hours or less. Similar to the other two famous islands, you can’t go wrong with any beach you decide on.

Cayo Levantado

Samana’s coast is home to Cayo Levantado. It is conveniently accessible by boat from Samana’s pier.

Discover the hidden village on this small island with its few local residents, surrounded by a green, humid tropical forest and coconut palm trees. There are just a few restaurants directly on the shore, a secluded five-star hotel, white chairs, and an abundance of breathtaking scenery.

The island is surrounded by immaculate beaches, but Playa Cayo Levantado is the most famous, followed closely by Bacardi Beach.

Catalina Island

Catalina Island

You can take your vacation to the next level by including this breathtaking island on your trip. It’s located outside of La Romana, one of the country’s favorite beach getaways.

Any beach is a great place to soak up the sun, but Catalina is best suited for people who enjoy being in the water.

Catalina has no residents. There are no resorts, only you and the pristine environment.

The island is surrounded by breathtaking beaches, each boasting picture-perfect white sand and turquoise waters, making any choice a great one.

Cayo Arena

Cayo Arena, also known as Paradise Island, is a small, picturesque sandbar located off the northwestern coast of the Dominican Republic.

Famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and vibrant coral reefs, it is a popular destination for snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiasts.

This tiny island offers a true escape into a tropical paradise, surrounded by rich marine life. Its unspoiled beauty makes it an idyllic spot for those seeking tranquility and an opportunity to connect with nature.

Isla Cabra

Isla Cabra, a hidden gem in the Caribbean in the northern part of the Dominican Republic. Accessible by boat, this secluded island offers a unique escape from the more frequented tourist destinations.

Known for its pristine beaches and clear waters, Isla Cabra is ideal for activities such as snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing. The island’s tranquil environment also makes it perfect for relaxation and nature exploration.

With over 150 million users in the United States, TikTok boasts a global user base estimated at 1.6 billion. Instagram, with an additional 2.5 billion users for photo and video sharing, contributes significantly to the wealth of data available for businesses. This includes insights into determining the ideal destinations for our next trips.

The operator of an online casino and sportsbook, JeffBet, used data from Instagram and TikTok to identify the top ten cities in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada for the best winter experiences. It examined which cities had the highest mentions of hashtags, such as #LondonChristmasMarkets and #WinterInNewYork, in order to draw its conclusion.

After parsing the data, the team found that London is the top choice for winter travelers on the social platform.

London Christmas Market

“London has been crowned as the city with the best winter experience,” the results, shared with Travel + Leisure, read. “England’s capital has almost 71 million winter-related hashtags on social media. For example, #LondonChristmasMarket has 10.9 million mentions on TikTok, and the ‘Big Smoke’ has countless places to visit, from ‘Borough Market at Christmas’ to ‘Christmas in Covent Garden’.”

With almost 69 million hashtag mentions on the two social networks, New York City was a close second. The results showed that “New Year’s Eve is the most popular hashtag relating to winter in New York,” with 1.3 million mentions for #NewYorkNYE and 6.4 million for #NYENewYork.

NYE in New York City (Times Square)

Manchester and Edinburgh, two other British locations, came in third and fourth place respectively. Manchester had the most mentions for its Christmas market with 25 million tag mentions. Edinburgh had 24.1 million mentions, promoting its Christmas markets with #EdinburghChristmasMarket and general winter activities with #EdinburghWinter.

Edinbrough Christmas Market

Paris, with 21.1 million winter-related hashtags, completed the top five positions. “France’s capital city is filled with activities, from drinking authentic Parisian hot chocolate to seeing the world-famous Eiffel Tower while snow falls from the sky,” according to the results. “New Year’s Eve celebrations are quintessential in Paris, with #ParisNYE having 9.9 million hashtags and #NYEParis having 2.2 million hashtags on TikTok.”

As for the other cities in the top 10, Vienna, Austria, secured sixth place with 12,881,781 mentions, closely followed by Berlin, Germany, with 12,839,066 mentions. Belfast, Northern Ireland, received 8,517,033 mentions, while Vancouver, Canada, received 7,504,319 mentions and Krakow, Poland, rounded out the list in tenth place with 7,069,802 mentions.
