Almost for any Caribbean island you visit, the perfect vacation is guaranteed. However, choosing the right destination isn’t always easy, with so many getaways available.

One important factor to keep in mind that can ruin your vacation during summer in the Caribbean is sargassum seaweed! June, July, and August are the peak months of the seaweed season. Lucky for you, we’ve got you covered and we picked the islands that have statistically the least amount of seaweed on their shores.

Whether you’re an adventurous solo traveler, a couple on honeymoon, or a family of five, on this list, you will find the 8 best Caribbean islands to visit in summer 2024.

St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands)

Is St. Croix (U.S. Virgin Islands) Safe? Travel Advisory 2024

St. Crois is a great destination for an authentic Caribbean experience. Despite being the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands and with easy access to the U.S. mainland (and no passport needed), it still goes unnoticed. But there are several reasons you might fall in love with it.

Apart from gorgeous beaches, it has plenty to offer to history buffs – from colonial architecture to sites like Estate Whim Plantation Museum or Fort Christiansvaern. You can also enjoy some outdoor activities, including hiking and diving, and top-class shopping and dining.

If you don’t like to stay in one place for too long, why not do a bit of island hopping? You can easily reach St. Thomas, St. John, and the British Virgin Islands for an overnight stay from St. Croix.

And in case you didn’t realize, Americans can visit the U.S. Virgin Islands without a passport!

Bonaire

bonaire beach

A part of the Dutch islands trio ABC (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao), Bonaire has its laid-back atmosphere and many secluded spots to unwind. It is an amazing choice for those who like spending their vacation unconventionally, without crowds.

Head to Washington Slagbaai National Park to find the most remote beaches and the iconic salt flats with flamingos. The colorful buildings and dive shops of the capital – Kralendijk – are also pretty impressive. From there, you can take a trip to the little islet Klein Bonaire.

Love exploring the underwater world? Bonaire is also home to the first and oldest marine park – the Bonaire National Marine Park. Other watersports you can engage in are windsurfing and kitesurfing. Lac Bay in particular is known to provide fantastic conditions for those.

Anguilla

Anguilla is a fairly unknown Caribbean Island that only became popular in the last few years during the post-pandemic travel boom! It’s a British Overseas Territory located in the Eastern part of the Caribbean Sea and most of its tourists come from the U.S. or UK.

Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB) published statistics from the first quarter of 2024 and it shows that the country welcomed over 62,188 visitors which is a 22% increase compared to 2023. This small number tells you how much of a “kept secret” is this island.

The island boasts only 33 beaches in total and some of the best ones are Shoal Bay, Meads Bay, Rendezvous Bay, and Sandy Island.

If you’re an all-inclusive resort type of traveler, Anguilla Island isn’t for you! Due to its amazing food scene, the island only has about 5 all-inclusive resorts.

Aruba

With its varied landscape and plenty of activities to offer, Aruba appeals to all kinds of travelers. Beach lovers will appreciate the powdery white sands and turquoise waters inviting them with the perfect conditions to snorkel, dive, or windsurf.

Aruba is proud to have one of the world’s most beautiful beaches which is also one of the most wanted beaches without seaweed in the Caribbean.

On the other hand, those looking to reconnect with nature can set off to Arikok National Park. Not only is it a fantastic spot to hike but also to learn something about the area’s history, flora, and fauna.

On top of that, as Aruba sits outside the hurricane belt, it’s safe to visit all year round. Plus the weather is always a blast.

Dominica

For the ultimate diving opportunities, you simply must visit Dominica. Its shores are full of extraordinary underwater landscapes, such as the streams of volcanic bubbles at Champagne Reef or the submerged volcanic crater of Scott’s Head.

Often nicknamed the Nature Island, Dominica also boasts tropical lush greenery, and the best way to explore it is through one of its countless hiking trails. One of the most popular hikes includes Boiling Lake, the second-largest hot spring of its kind in the world. For the daring ones, there is the Waitukubuli National Trail – the Caribbean’s longest trail that stretches over 115 miles.

Alternatively, you can immerse in Dominica’s unspoiled beauty by river tubing or on a guided eco-tour. No matter your preferences, this island will enchant you.

Long Island, Bahamas

With its lovely beaches and high-end resorts, the Bahamas is a well-known vacation destination. However, as it’s less developed than other Bahamian islands, Long Island is still off the mainstream tourist path and offers a genuine Bahamian experience.

Relax on secluded beaches and hidden coves, dive to see untouched coral reefs, sharks, and even sea turtles, or let traditional Bahamian cuisine seduce your taste buds. Fishing and boating opportunities are also excellent there.

Wait. That’s not all. When in Long Island, checking out Dean’s Blue Hole is simply a must. The world’s second-deepest underwater sinkhole attracts freedivers from around the planet. Now it’s your turn to swim, dive, or snorkel over it (note that you gotta be a good swimmer, as it’s rather dangerous).

Virgin Gorda, BVI

Virgin Gorda, BVI

You’ve surely heard of the British Virgin Islands, but have you heard of Virgin Gorda? We’re not surprised. The third-largest of the archipelago is one of the Caribbean best-kept secrets. Even though it boasts stunning nature and beaches, it has managed to stay without intrusive commercialism, and its unique atmosphere is just waiting for you to discover.

Hike the trails of the scenic landscapes, take the best views from Gorda Peak, or explore the island’s coastline on a yacht or sailboat. You can also properly unwind at one of its luxurious resorts, and indulge yourself with fine dining and spa treatments. All that makes it a popular destination among celebrities, and you can feel like one too. At least for a week.

Jamaica

7 Incredible Hidden Gems In Jamaica To Visit In 2024

This Caribbean classic definitely shouldn’t be missed on our list. It boasts breathtaking beaches, plenty of natural wonders and outdoor adventures, fascinating history, and friendly locals. Whatever you’re looking for, you can be sure Jamaica has it!

What makes Jamaica stand out among others, though, is its vibrant culture. Almost every night, there is a street dance happening or a reggae show somewhere. Plus the food is amazing. Don’t forget to try local specialties like Blue Mountain Coffee or jerk chicken. But we warn you, it will never taste the same again back in your home country.

If you’re looking for an all-inclusive holiday, we’ve recently compiled articles with TOP 5 resorts in Jamaica offering summer 2024 offers.

Spending a summer is a dream of many, and millions of travelers worldwide flock there every year to visit iconic destinations like Barcelona, Rome, or Santorini. Sadly, those beautiful spots become busier than usual, and all the lines can get pretty exhausting.

So what to do if you still want to experience the fairytale-esque Europe but avoid the busy crowds? To get the most out of your trip, we’ve got a few tips for you. Here are the 8 incredible hidden gems in Europe to visit in 2024.

Santuario Madonna Della Corona, Spiazzi, Italy

Santuario Madonna Della Corona

Carved into the Monte Baldo Mountains in northern Italy, Santuario Madonna Della Corona is a hidden gem that will simply take your breath away. For long, the sanctuary has been a popular destination for spiritual pilgrimages, but you will enjoy it even if you’re not religious.

It provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and villages, and a peaceful atmosphere – perfect for taking a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Around, you will also find many scenic hikes and nature paths.

Thanks to its location, it makes a great day trip from Verona or Lago di Garda. It’s best accessed by car, but there are also some public transport options.

Tavolara Island, Sardinia

If you’re planning a trip to Sardinia, don’t forget to include Tavolara Island in your itinerary. As a part of the Protected Marine Area, it boasts pristine beaches and excellent conditions for snorkeling, diving, and boat tours.

The island is also renowned for its great hikes. The most popular trail starts at Spalmatore di Terra beach and takes you to Pratone viewpoint. However, note that the terrain of Tavolara is rather challenging and all hikes require a guide and equipment, as most include a bit of rappelling and ferrata.

Love cinema? Aim to arrive mid-July, when the island becomes alive with the yearly Tavolara Film Festival. On the other hand, for hiking, we recommend you come in spring or fall to avoid the heat.

Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel, Azores

Bubbling volcanoes, lush nature, and quiet lagoons with turquoise waters. A vacation in the Azores already sounds fantastic. But there is one spot that stands out among others – the Islet of Vila Franca do Campo.

It’s set just off of the southern coast of São Miguel island. It’s shaped like a rocky ring with a lagoon in the middle, which makes it a great place for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The best part? Not many people know about it yet, which will turn your visit into an enchanting and serene beach experience.

Saturnia Hot Springs, Italy

If you find yourself in Tuscany this summer, don’t miss the Saturnia Hot Springs. This natural spa is set in the idyllic Tuscan countryside just a short drive from the spa town of Saturnia and is ideal for a rejuvenating retreat.

Don’t worry, visiting Saturnia Hot Springs won’t break the bank. Just the opposite – you can soak in the thermal waters and its healing properties completely for free. However, if you’d like to take your experience a bit further, you can treat yourself to a night in one of the exclusive resorts. The area is also known for its excellent dining options.

Elafonissi Beach, Crete, Greece

You don’t have to go all the way to the Bahamas to visit a pink sand beach. You will also find one in Crete, and it’s called Elafonissi Beach. What gives this seashore its iconic color are the washed-up remains of pink seashells mixed with soft sand. The waters there are unbelievably clean and warm, perfect for wading, swimming, and even observing colorful fish and sea turtles.

Note that this less-known piece of paradise is getting noticed. For the best experience, we recommend you come early in the morning, so you can have it to yourself.

On your way back, you can pop to the nearby Kedrodasos Beach, which is about a 10-minute drive away. Be careful, it’s rather rocky and the stones can be slippery, so you might need a good pair of sandals instead of flip-flops.

Bastei Bridge, Germany

Not much of a beach bum? We’ve also got something for outdoor enthusiasts. Bastei Bridge is a fascinating natural wonder set in Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany (yes, the name is misleading indeed). It overlooks the Elbe River and offers stunning views of various rock formations and deep forests, and has a certain historical significance.

It was built on the grounds of a wooden bridge that was part of the Neurathen Castle, and you can explore its remains as well while there. Many hiking routes lead to the bridge. They’re suitable for all levels and have different lengths. Simply choose the one that best fits your schedule. At the park, there is also a souvenir shop, toilets, and a restaurant to refuel.

Studlagil Basalt Canyon, Iceland

Iceland is famed for its unparalleled natural beauty. And Studlagil Basalt Canyon could easily be the most mesmerizing attraction there is.

The canyon is about 500 meters long and surrounded by up to 30 meters high basalt columns. Their volcanic origin gave them a dark color, which contrasts well with the bright blue river. All that creates a dramatic landscape worth a photoshoot or two.

Several hiking trails surround the area, and each of them offers a different view of the canyon. Thanks to its remote location, untouched natural beauty and solitude are guaranteed, and you’re likely to spot local wildlife, such as native birds and reindeer.

Meteora, Greece

The word Meterora means “suspended in the air” and that’s exactly what this place is about – it’s a complex of historic monasteries set atop tall rock formations and will provide you with an unforgettable experience.

It was established by monks seeking solitude and spiritual refuge. Today, it serves as a place to meditate, hike, and savor the panoramic vistas. You can also learn about the history of Meteora by exploring the monasteries, or through guided tours and museum exhibits.

Pinterest, the California-based visual-first discovery engine, has revealed the Top Travel Trends for Summer 2024, based on global data collected since winter 2023.

With more than 1 billion travel-related searches and 10 billion travel-oriented saves, the platform is highly accurate at spotting new tendencies.

In 2024, tourists want to unplug from the always-connected world and focus on wellness travel. “Digital detox,” they call it. In the same vein, people seem to be particularly interested in off-the-beaten-path destinations, as well as mysterious places and hidden gems in unexplored and secluded lands.

Let’s explore the most exciting trends for this upcoming summer.

Adventure Trips

With an increase of 45 percent in searches, adrenaline-seekers worldwide actively look to engage in adventure trips that fulfill their desires to both boost their physical and mental wellness and explore world-class destinations.

Most of these travelers have chosen the Philippines for its lush forest and unspoiled nature and Tanzania for its unique safari offerings.

Pinterest data shows that trending searches include scuba diving photography (up 60% year-over-year), water park rides (up 170%), and hiking (up 94%).

These travelers also plan to spend their vacation days at luxury safari lodges (up 110%).

Quiet Life Tourism – Digital Detox

Travelers searching for “quiet life travel” are fed up with stressful city life. Searchers for this type of tourism have increased by a staggering 530 percent over the last year!

According to Pinterest, these users massively look for “quiet places” and “calm places” in forests, secluded beaches and countryside towns where they can stay away from the toxic interconnected digital world.

These travelers’ searches include glamping (up to 260% year-over-year), cabins in the mountains (up 180%), national parks (up 250%), and wellness retreats (up 90%).

They believe they can mostly find these venues in Okinawa, Japan and the English countryside.

Enigmatic

Edinburgh

There is a rising fascination for traveling to places considered mysterious or unexplored. Some of these include ancient ruins, caves, hidden gems, and even abandoned locales.

These destinations cater to travelers’ imagination and sense of mystery rather than getting tanned at the beach.

To fulfill their need for mystery, travelers are booking tickets to “places on earth that do not feel real (up to 240% year-over-year),” haunted places (up 155%), abandoned places (up 230%), calming nature (up 340%), and beautiful locations worldwide (up 150%).

The top mysterious destinations for these types of travelers include Machu Picchu, Peru and Edinburgh, Scotland.

Gen Z – Road Trips with Friends

This demographic is definitely not into solo travel. They prefer to spend their holidays strengthening relationships with friends with whom they can split expenses and avoid following a too-structured travel schedule.

They are mostly interested in places they can go by car and enjoy with friends (up to 50% year-over-year).

Their number one destination is Jasper, Canada (up 155%).

Other travel trends for summer 2024 revealed by travel experts include:

International Destinations

Despite the rising cost of travel, Squaremouth states that three-quarters of summer travelers are choosing international destinations.

The top three include the United Kingdom, Italy, and Canada.

Set-jetting

As per a survey conducted by American Express Travel, 70 percent of Gen Z and Millennials are drawn to destinations featured in movies. A clear example is Emily in Paris, a Netflix series that has sparked viewers’ interest in France.

Culture Connoisseur Travel

According to Four Season Magazine, travelers are actively planning their holidays around sporting events, international festivals or concerts such as those featuring the superstar Taylor Swift.

Summer is around the corner, which means it’s time to start planning your vacation. Texas is a popular tourist destination. But while most people opt for the classic sights in bustling cities like Austin, Houston, and Dallas, or an escape to the famous Big Bend National Park, it doesn’t mean you have to do so as well.

Don’t worry, we’ve done the research and checked out what’s trending these days. On this list, you will find the 7 best places to visit in Texas in summer 2024, to make your stay at the Lone Star State a blast. Here they are.

Horseshoe Bay Resort, Horseshoe Bay

Located on the shores of the lake Lyndon B. Johnson, you will find a fantastic holiday retreat – Horseshoe Bay Resort. It features golf courses, an on-site spa, and a swimming pool. Plus you can choose from various luxurious accommodation options, including spacious rooms, waterfront villas, or condos.

However, what makes the resort truly special is its top-class service. The staff is known to be very nice from the minute you arrive (and probably even from before), the facilities are clean, not to mention the delicious food. Just try it yourself, it’s easily reachable from both Austin and San Antonio.

Barton Springs Pool

Barton Springs Pool is another destination for a refreshing dip. But this time, you don’t have to travel far if you’re staying in Austin, as it’s located right in the middle of the city.

It’s fed from underground springs, which makes it very clean and suitable for year-round swimming. It also provides a home to the rare Barton Springs Salamander. They often hide under rocks or in algae but be careful, they’re endangered.

Not much of a swimmer? Don’t worry, during the day, there are lifeguards on duty. Other facilities include restrooms and changing rooms. Note that to help preserve the beauty of the pool, you’re not allowed to bring food.

Gulf Waters Beach Front RV Resort

Gulf Waters Beach Front RV Resort

Are you looking for the ideal beach camping resort in Texas? We might know one! It’s called Gulf Waters Beach Front RV Resort and it’s set near Corpus Christi in Port Aransas.

It offers 158 RV sites with pads and picnic areas, some of which feature pond-view patios, palapas, and pergolas. There is also a heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, and an activity center.

What’s more, the resort has its own 600-foot-long beachfront – you won’t feel crowded at the beach even on the hottest day of the year. And to move around the resort, you can use golf carts.

Splashway Water Park – Best Rated Water Park in TX

Every parent knows that traveling with kids can be rather demanding. Luckily, there is a place that will keep them entertained so you can relax – Splashway Water Park. It’s not just a regular water park, it’s actually the best-rated water park in Texas on Google Maps.

You and your kids can look forward to water slides, rides, lazy rivers, wave pools, and many more attractions. Toddlers won’t come short either. For them, there are shallow pools and splash pads. To refuel, you can choose from a number of eateries and food, from Tex-Mex to pizza.

In case you feel like one day might not be enough, there is a campground with RV and tent sites, cottages, and cabin rentals – perfect for a family weekend or a camping trip full of fun.

Marriott Marquis Houston for Summer Events and Parties

If you want to treat yourself to a stay in a fancy hotel, there is no better option than Marriott Marquis Houston. Not only does it boast comfortable rooms with modern amenities and city views, but there is also a spa and world-class dining opportunities. On top of that, you can take advantage of bike rental, yoga classes, and even personalized fitness training.

The highlight of Marriott Marquis Houston, though, is definitely the rooftop lazy river in the shape of Texas and the infinity pool. Sip on a delish cocktail and let the panoramic vistas take your breath away. All that while being close to all Houston attractions.

Hamilton Pool

It’s one of those scorching hot days and you would appreciate a dip, but everything is either too far or the pools are busy. Get ready this summer and reserve an afternoon at Hamilton Pool, a natural preserve with a cliff, beach, and a little waterfall near Austin.

It will take you about an hour to get there from the city center. You can leave your car at the spacious parking lot. Then, you have to take a short hike to the pool, which is about a quarter-mile long.

Don’t forget to check swimming updates before you go, as the preserve sometimes gets threatened by bacteria, which means entering the water is forbidden.

Garner State Park

Do you like to spend your vacation reconnecting with nature and engaging in outdoor activities? In that case, Garner State Park is the spot for you. It’s set by the emerald-green Frio River, where you can take a swim. It also boasts diverse hiking trails and picturesque views.

But wait, that’s not all. Apart from hiking and swimming, you can enjoy kayaking, tubing, birdwatching, or playing mini golf. And if you’re staying for the night, the area is known for excellent stargazing. Both campsites and cabins are available, and there is a little shop in case you forgot anything.

Is your budget getting tight but traveling is the last thing you would want to give up? Don’t worry, we have all been there. But lucky for you, we have a solution. In fact, we’ve got a few.

We did a bit of research and compiled a list of the 6 cheapest beach destinations in Europe for summer 2024 where you can vacation like a king. Here they are.

Alanya, Turkey

Alanya, Old Town Beach

Thousands of holidaymakers flock to Turkey every year. However, it has a very long coastline, so when it comes to choosing the right destination for you, it can be quite tricky. For us, Alanya is number one, and here are a couple of reasons why.

First and foremost, it has stunning golden sand beaches and its waters are crystal-clear, always inviting you for a refreshing dip or a little snorkeling trip. You can also take a boat ride and explore the seaside. If you’re lucky, you might even spot dolphins.

On the other hand, at night, Alanya turns into a buzzing coastal town with plenty of authentic restaurants, bars, clubs, and movie venues to make memories at.

As you can see, Alanya is suitable for people of all ages and interests. Vacation there is also an excellent value for money. Every traveler can enjoy it without compromising on quality and experiences.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $40 and $95
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $8
  • A beer in a bar: $4

Sunny Beach, Bulgaria

Sunny Beach, Bulgaria

If you’re not keen on the Mediterranean, Sunny Beach is a fantastic option. As the name suggests, it’s renowned for its stunning coastline, vibrant nightlife, and a range of family-friendly attractions, which makes it one of the most popular (and budget-friendly) destinations in Europe.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $50 and $95
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $8
  • A beer in a bar: $2 (and it won’t be just a little bottle, but a full pint)

As with any holiday resort town, it also offers plenty of water sports and other fun activities. You can engage in jet skiing, parasailing, banana riding, windsurfing, and paddleboarding. Do you like being active but prefer to stay on the ground? How about getting your hands on beach volleyball, beach soccer, or mini golf?

Albanian Riviera

Ksamil, Albania

Often referred to as the European Bali, the Albanian Riviera has been getting much attention in the past few years. Not only does it boast stunning beaches and clear, turquoise waters, but the coastline is also lined with excellent resorts, seafood restaurants, as well as cultural attractions. You can also take a day trip to Corfu, which is only a half-an-hour ferry ride from the town of Saranda.

All that for a fraction of the price compared to the popular Mediterranean destinations.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $40 and $90
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $10
  • A beer in a bar: $3

What’s more, its beaches are not yet jammed with tourists. So hurry up and book your trip before others get to know about this Mediterranean hidden gem, the Albanian Riviera.

Algarve, Portugal

Algarve Beach

Compared to its neighbor, a vacation in the Algarve might be more affordable, even in peak season.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $60 and $100 but it depends quite a lot on the exact location here
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $14
  • A beer in a bar: $3

And it definitely has loads to offer. It boasts incredible beaches and about 300 days of sunshine, which makes it one of the sunniest places in Europe. It’s also home to unspoiled nature and cute fishing villages full of unique charm and history.

The coastline is pretty long, so what are the spots you definitely shouldn’t miss? Visit Praia da Falésia for its breathtaking cliffs, explore the cave of Benagil, watch birds at Ria Formosa, or try some exquisite wines in local vineyards. The options are endless.

Algarve is also popular for surfing. No matter your skills, there are plenty of locations to choose from for all levels.

Budva, Montenegro

Budva Old Town
Sveti Stefan Island (15 mins by car from Budva)

Budva is another option for those who wish to spend their vacation in Europe without breaking the bank. That travelers go there for its beaches and nightlife is nothing new. But there is much, much more to do.

Soak in the Medieval atmosphere of Budva’s Old Town, take a stroll on the lovely seaside promenade, or set off for a hiking or biking trip. A must place to visit, which is right next door is Sveti Stefan Island and spend a day on the beach there.

Oh, and did you know that Budva is nicknamed the Miami of Montenegro? Come and see why, this is how much you’ll need.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $50 and $100
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $12
  • A beer in a bar: $3

Crete, Greece

Elafonissi Beach, Crete, Greece

Greece consists of dozens of idyllic islands perfect for summer escapes to the beach. And for being the largest, Crete is one of the most sought-after destinations there. Apart from being on the cheaper side, there are several reasons why you might want to head there this year.

First and foremost, it’s the fascinating remnants of the ancient civilizations. The archaeological ruins, such as the Palace of Knossos or Gortyna, are worth a stop, even if you’re not a history buff.

There is also stunning natural scenery, ideal for hikes, and many traditional mountain villages where you can experience the easy-going Cretan way of living.

Last but not least, the coastline is beautiful and will cater to anyone – you will find busy beaches and cozy coves there. And the accommodation? There are hundreds of hotels and resorts to choose from.

  • The average price for a hotel room: between $60 and $120
  • A meal in an inexpensive restaurant: $17
  • A beer in a bar: $5
