More than 40 countries have already banned flights and travelers coming from the U.K. as a new Coronavirus strain was found in England.
The UK has already rung the alarms to the World Health Organization (WHO) about the spiraling numbers of cases with a new mutation of COVID-19 in London and southern England.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson commented that the new strain was 70 percent more transmissible than the known variations of the infection.
The severity of this new mutation of the virus –named VUI-202012/01– and its lethality is yet to be confirmed.
The UK government also imposed more COVID-19 restrictions on London and its surrounding areas.
So far, the following countries have introduced a ban on flights from the UK (restrictions vary).
Argentina has forbidden all flights from the UK. The last one should arrive in the country by the end of today.
Austria has halted flights and imposing new travel restrictions from the UK.
Belgium has also banned flights up till Monday midnight.
Bulgaria has suspended both flights from and to the UK until January 31.
Canada has banned all UK flights for 72 hours.
Chile will be suspending flights from the UK from Tuesday.
Colombia has halted flights from the UK.
Croatia is also suspending flights from the UK for at least 48 hours.
Czech Republic has introduced stricter quarantine for people arriving from the UK.
Denmark has banned flights from the UK for 48 hours starting on Monday morning.
El Salvador will not allow anyone who has been in the UK or South Africa for the past 30 days.
Estonia has halted flights from the UK.
Ecuador banned all flights from the UK.
Finland has suspended flights from the UK for two weeks.
France has barred all travel from the UK for 48 hours, including those transporting goods.
Germany has halted flights between the two nations from Sunday midnight to December 31.
Greece extended quarantine from 3 to 7 days for all passenger arriving from the UK.
Hong Kong is about to ban flights from the UK.
Italy has suspended flights from the UK and entry to the country for people who have stayed in the UK during the past 14 days.
India has barred flights from the UK until the end of December.
Iraq banned flights from few countries (including UK) due to increased COVID cases in the country.
Iran has suspended all flights from the UK for two weeks.
Ireland has blocked all flights for 48 hours from Sunday midnight.
Israel has barred entry to foreign citizens traveling from the UK, Denmark, and South Africa.
Jamaica imposed travel ban on flights from the UK for next 2 weeks.
Jordan has suspended both flights to and from the UK from Monday until January 3.
Kuwait has barred flights from the UK and added the country to the list of ‘high-risk’ nations.
Latvia has halted flights from the UK.
Lithuania has also halted flights from the UK.
Luxembourg also banned flights from the UK, but only for 24hours.
Macedonia imposing ban on flights from the UK starting December 23 until December 31.
Malta has banned all flights from the UK.
Morocco suspended flights from the UK on Sunday.
Norway is banning flights from the UK for at least 48 hours starting on Monday.
Netherlands has banned all flights and ferry passengers from the UK until January 1.
Oman halted all flights from the UK and also stopped all international travel again, due to new Coronavirus strain.
Peru has banned all incoming flights from Europe (including the UK) due to new strain of Coronavirus.
Poland is halting flights from the UK starting Monday midnight.
Portugal has suspended flights from the UK.
Romania is barring both flights to and from the UK for two weeks starting on Monday afternoon.
Russia is banning flights from UK on December 22 for one week.
Saudi Arabia has halted flights from the UK.
Slovakia will suspend direct passenger flights from the UK starting on December 22, for 72 hours. This initial period is expected to be extended.
Spain will ban all incomers from the UK except Spanish nationals and residents from Tuesday.
Switzerland has suspended flights from the UK and South Africa until further notice. All visitors from the UK must undergo 10-days quarantine.
Sweden has suspended all flights from the UK.
Taiwan imposing strict restrictions on travelers arriving from the UK or those who travel to the UK within the last 2 weeks. All visitors have to undergo mandatory 140-days quarantine.
Turkey is halting flights from the UK, Denmark, Netherlands, and South Africa.
Cases of the new variant of Coronavirus have been also reported in Denmark, Austria, Netherlands, and Italy.
Eurostar suspended all their trains from London until at least Wednesday.
