With remote work becoming the new normality, Miami Beach has taken up the opportunity to promote its Play, Work & Learn Remotely program.
Singles, couples, and families are encouraged to spend their “workcation”, a recent COVID-19 trend to combine work and vacation, on Miami’s sunny beaches. These are known for year-long warm weather, various outdoor activities, a rich cultural scene, and outstanding culinary experiences.
Workcationers can choose from over 30 recognized hotels and resorts, such as Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, Mandarin Oriental or Fontainebleau Miami Beach. In most of these, classrooms for remote learning, spa, fitness, meeting rooms and office supplies are provided. Some others offer after-school services for kids.
Many are now looking for ways to discover new destinations while working and studying. Steve Adkins from the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA) comments that Miami Beach is determined to support the desired change.
He explains that most hotels are also dedicated to offering bonuses and discounts for those staying longer. For example, the ‘Stay Longer With Us’ package at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach allows customers to enjoy 20 to 40 percent off stays of 4 and more consecutive nights.
Guests can thus break the monotony of home office by exceptional seaside views, al-fresco meals, and practicing water sports like paddle-boarding, kayaking, or parasailing.
Local businesses and culture centers will also enhance visitors’ experiences in 2021. Such as the Bass Museum, which has recently presented a new installation called ‘Agua Dulce,’ an extension of their current ‘Art Outside’ initiative.
With increasing home workers, a traditional vacation might as well in 2021 turn into workcation.
Change of scenery and extended opportunities might boost productivity and highlight the flexibility of location-independent work caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
